Artist Statement
Graphic Design is a cross between the 2-D art world and advanced technology. This art form allows you to heighten your artwork, as well as make it something you couldn't have with just a pen, pencil, and paper. Adobe Illustrator and photoshop have opened up so many things you can do to create your artwork. To create my work, I like to jump right into it, creating my designs as I go. I always have some sort of idea before I start, but I just like to click around and see what I can initaily creat. I definitely was excited to take this class, as I had never done anything like this before. Graphic Design has helped me become more computer savvy, while still trying to be creative and conscious of how a real Graphic Designer works.
Killer FruitFor this project we were asked to create a "Killer Fruit" in Photoshop. I chose to make a grumpy coconut. This was probably my favorite project because of how creative you could get with what your fruit looked like, and photoshop was easy to work with. Somethings I could improve on is the background. It is very plain and looks very last minute. This project allowed me to further improve my photoshop skills, and have fun.

South Park CharacterFor this project we were asked to create a character in a "South Park" style. I created a zookeeper, with a lion angrily looking at him from behind. This was the first project I had used Photoshop in and at first it was very hard to get the hang of all of the layers. Overall I feel that this program was easier to use than Adobe Illistrator because it gave me more leeway than in the other program. This project was fairly easy because of how simple the "South Park" style was, but it was difficult to figure out what character I was going to create and remembering to use layers.

Business SuiteFor this project we were asked to put ourselves in the position of a Graphic Designer and create a logo, business card, letter head, and envelope. We were given a limit on how many colors we could use, just as if we were actually hired by a customer. For my company, I used "Quack Queen" as my company. I really liked this project because it gave me a feel of how a real Graphic Designer works. The hardest part of this project and what I would change is the color limit. Next time I would choose more appealing colors and maybe a different company.

Google DoodleFor this project we we asked to follow the "Google Doodle Contest" rules to create how we see the future. For my project I decided to go with a more literal route, showing different ways people can see into the future. (Tarot Cards, The Third Eye, and a crystal ball). For this project I sketched out different compositions, finally deciding on this one. For this project I used Adobe illustrator, trying different brushes to achieve a mystic/magical look. The most challenging aspect of this was the eye, I had trouble getting the eyelashes straight and not shaky. Next time I would use Photoshop, because it is an easier program to use.
