Artist Statement
Art is a great way to capture thoughts or idea, and turn them into more physical/tangible things. In Art II I learned many elements of art that have helped improve my art "skills". These elements include cubism, composition rules, contour drawing, under painting, etc. I also learned how to paint with oil painting, which happened to become one of my favorite materials to use. I would like my art to make people think of their own meaning behind the art, so that each one of my pieces can have a special meaning to it, that can vary from person to person. The type of art that interests me is realism, because it no mater with what type of material you use, it is hard to make it look 100% real. In the future I would like to learn more about how to create real looking art pieces, so that it looks like a photo rather than a drawing.

Oil Painting
For my oil painting, we had to replicate a photo that we took while also using a color scheme. For this, I painted the view of looking out side of an airplane window. I used split complementary for my color scheme, which uses one color and the two colors on either side of its compliment. The colors I used were blue, red-orange, and yellow-orange. Before using these colors for the actual painting, I created an under painting using shades of blue to create a cooler under tone. This art piece helped me to learn how to use new materials and how to problem solve. The sky was a big challenge for me, to fix this I took a larger brush with white paint and while the blue paint was still wet it helped create the illusion of clouds.
