My Artwork!
When I create my art, I like to be a little less serious and more silly and fun! But at times, I can be serious and show that all of my art isn't all crazy. My goal with my artwork is to make people smile, and to have them see how much hard work and effort it took to make the piece. 3D art is such an amazing art form because you get to physically interact with the material and manipulate just the way you want. Sometimes the material can be forgiving and other times it can be hard to fix. This class has really helped me to plan before I create, which helps me to stay on track and to brainstorm with different ideas before I just settle on one.
'Birdtle' BottleFor this project were asked to create a bottle while incorporating the main elements that make a bottle a bottle. For my design I created a bird. To make it I used coils, going wide around the base and then getting thinner to make the neck of the bottle. To create the wings and beak, I used small pieces of clay, attached by the strike and slip method. For glazing, I used cooler colors with a pop of yellow to contrast against the dark/cool blues. To improve I could not have put the design on the bottom of the bird because it looks messy and dirty. My favorite part of this piece is the small wafers that line the head of the bird and the different colors they have.

Goldsworthy Lamp
For this project we were asked to research an artist and create a lamp that was inspired by the artwork they make. For my Artist I chose Andy Goldsworthy, who uses all natural material such as leaves and twigs. For my lamp, I created a tree and used wafer leaves to attach to the base of the tree. This was inspired by many of his works because this is a common technique he uses. To better the lamp, I could have used a more textured glaze to give both the tree and leaves more life. My favorite part about this lamp is how small and it is and its branches. On of the obstacles I faced was drying. Throughout the project, the branches were beginning to dry and crack, but I fixed this by letting the tree sit in a bag with water in it.

Tea SetFor this project, we were asked to create a complete tea set. For my tea set I decided to make gourds! For the tea pot I have a basic pumpkin, and each one of the cups is a different gourd (pumpkin, squash, acorn squash). One of the obstacles I faced in this project was time, since I had been absent so often. As a result, I was unable to glaze enough coats onto the cups, so the glaze is somewhat transparent. One thing that I like about the set is the squash cup. The glaze I used made the cu very smooth and it looks the nicest out of all of the cups.

Timeline ProjectFor this project we were asked to create a timeline sculpture of our life/major events in our life. My time line is more of an organic, free flowing shape because that's how my life has been thus far. It also shows a pretty large dip, which symbolizes the hard time I have gone through in my life. The colors I have chosen to use are shades of blue and green. My favorite color is blue and each shade of this color can symbolize a mood/feeling of its own, The darker shades are sad moments, the lighter shades are happy/calm moments in my life. The green on the underside represents the self-doubt I had at that time in my life. The most trouble I had with this project was time and ideas. My original idea fell apart, and I didn't really have time to fix it, so I went with another design, My favorite part of this project was plastering, although it was messy, it was fun to see how that really made a difference to the overall appearance of the sculpture.
