Artist Statement
Drawing is one of my favorite art forms because it allows you to have more freedom with your materials as well as your ideas. The materials are almost endless, such as with charcoal pencils, colored pencils, paint, pastels, crayons etc. Whether I am just sketching in my note book, or creating a project, drawing is an easy release for creativity. I usually plan/ brainstorm before each of my projects so that I have a solid base for my entire project. It keeps me on track of where I should be and what I should be doing each time I start.
House Project
For this project, we had to create a house that was drawn in 2-point perspective. What I like about this project is the stone that is on the lower half of the house, along with the overall values of the structure. Through out this piece, I learned how to use different types of graphite to get a certain value/shade for different parts of the house. I also learned how to drawn in 2-point perspective.

View point project
In this project, we had to choose an everyday object to draw in three different view points. For my object I chose my water bottle and drew it from it's side, top, and upper top. The materials I used were pastel, color pencil, and sharpie. The thing I like about this project is the pastel portion, that shows the side of the bottle. Throughout this piece, I learned about different color schemes and how to use pastel.

Self portrait
For this project, we had to create a self portrait using the grid method. The materials we had to use were charcoal pencils and graphite pencils. Along with this, we had to add layering to the portrait. The thing I like most about this project, is the contrast of the portrait with the bright layer behind and around it. During this piece, I learned how to properly use the grid method and create a self portrait.

PrintMaking
In this project we had to do a line drawing of a landscape and then create a mono-print with it. For this project I chose to make a print of my front yard in winter. The materials I used to create this were ink, a plate, pencil, and paper. What I like most about this piece is the tree and sunrise. During this project I learned how to create a mono print and how to use all the tools, such as a brayer.

Surrealism Project
For this project we had to create something that was surreal and use one technique of surrealism and a characteristic of a human. I chose symbolism and dream imagery for my techniques. I expressed these two I dead by drawing a clock that was the sun, and another one that is running down the road, loosing it's numbers. This symbolizes 'running out of time." The materials I used for this piece were colored pencils. This project is my favorite, and I like everything about it. During this project I learned how to create a surrealism piece.
